With the resources time and material...
Katrin Heesch treats the resources of time and material in a very unusual manner. With intense concentration and extreme care she laminates horizontal stripes from Latex onto the image plane. It forms a painting, which is characterised by a high measure of density and poetry. Repetition, accumulation and attentiveness lend the final structure to her pictures. The artist specifies, with a careful weighing, the position, width and colour of each new colour stripe. The widespread pallet of her colours produces a high degree of variability. Hundreds of plastic stripes draw a fine relief. The vast transparency of the paint film provides for a bright effortlessness. There is an absence of black - the dark and heartbroken are refused access. At the same time, the tender and stable radiance of her painting intends an atmosphere of carefree peace.
In no place are the numerous horizontals disrupted. The stripes are neither obstructed by each other, nor by other obstacles that appear in the image plane. The renouncement of emphasis, as with the regular advances and withdrawals of the colours promote harmony and dynamicism. The expanse offers security, the differentiated remains visible. Complexity, compact presence and abundance on the one hand, simplicity, clarity and order on the other.
