Comeback for the Art Cologne
03.11.2006
The Art Cologne celebrated its 40th anniversary with a fulminate exhibition. The number of exhibitors compared to last year was reduced from 250 to 180 - what certainly improved the quality. Cologne showed better art than the "Artforum Berlin", had more visitors and could book a threefold bigger turnover already within the first days. The international art collectors returned to the Rhine.
At the booth of "Galerie Rothamel" prevailed contentment already at the opening day: all artworks by the Norwegian artist Lage Opedal were sold. The diptych "Esstunde" was honoured by a museum and now belongs to the "Galerie Neue Meister" in Dresden. Furthermore did several large size photos by Hans-Christian Schink, as well as a sculpture by Axel Anklam.
Due to a change of date the next "Art" will already take place in the spring of 2007. In the meanwhile it is freely spoken about a branch in Majorca. The "merry-go-round of art" keeps spinning.
