Photo Basel 2019: Hans-Christian Schink and Hiroyuki Masuyama

Photo Basel 2019

From the 11th to the 16th of June the Photo Basel 2019 takes place, the first address for contemporary photography during Art Basel.

Invited by curator Daniel Blochwitz, we take this delightful opportunity to present works by Hiroyuki Masuyama and Hans-Christian Schink. Common thematic link between Schink and Masuyama is a fascinating way of dealing with the concept of time.

Hans Christian Schink demonstrates the passing of time, visualizing the path of the sun through the day and across the sky in a striking way. His series "1h" has established a new chapter in the history of black and white photography.

Hiroyuki Masuyama brings space and time into sensual compositions that play with the viewer's perception: the works of well-known representatives of art history (as Caspar David Friedrich) are newly formed in the temporal reality of their places.

"The time levels merged in this way make it clear once again that art always has only one present. It's the one in which thinking about them takes place." Michael Freitag

At this point, we regularly present works of art that may have escaped your esteemed attention - but certainly deserve it. We combine that with an unbeatable, but ephemeral discount. In other words - we want to make you an offer you cannot refuse. A short one. The works can be purchased directly through our shop.

The first one is a work by Ellen Akimoto: Hide-and-Seek Portrait, mixed media on paper, 2014, 24 x 18cm

The link to the shop can be found here.

Artist: Ellen Akimoto was born in 1988 in Westlake Village, California. She studied at the California State University, Chico, the Art Academy Mainz and as a master student of Annette Schröter at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig. The scenes of Ellen Akimoto play in two-dimensional spaces, partly fantasy, partly memory, partly dream.
