Michiko Nakatani

Nakatani’s installations, sculptures and drawings are as subtle as they are powerful. Her pencil drawings fill the sprawling wall surfaces with fine floral patterns, transforming the wall into a sentient organism vibrating with life. Her negative reliefs are pressed into plaster of Paris blocks, where colour and synthetic resin are combined and applied creating a vivid effervescent effect drawing the viewer in. Her paper works deal with the forlornness as well as the security of our individual being within ourselves and within our place amongst nature.
