Schatten der Zeit
We cordially invite you and your friends to our Erfurt gallery for the opening with the artist on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 8 p.m. Hiroyuki Masuyma (* 1968 in Tsukuba / Japan) is a painter, sculptor and photographer and also an explorer, engineer and philosopher. Many of his works visualize journeys in time and enable new perceptions of our world. Our exhibition presents the latest facet of his work. Masuyama's drawings from the series “Shadows of Time / Shadows of Hours” demonstrate the passage of time by following the shadows of things in the sunlight. The resulting paper works are of fragile perfection and high contemplative power. At the same time, we are showing new works from Masuyama's Friedrich series, dedicated to the most important German romantic, Caspar David Friedrich (1774–1840). Hiroyuki Masuyama recreated Friedrich's paintings from thousands of detailed photographs. Friedrich's freely imagined scenarios acquire the credibility of photographic images.
