Space and time are the focus of Hiroyuki Masuyama's art. He condenses them into sensual compositions that play with the viewer's perception.

His series "Flowers" shows flower meadows where all vegetation periods prevail at the same time. It evokes a fascinating panorama of the seasons, growth and life.

Other time travel leads Masuyama to colleagues of the past. He visits places that William Turner or Caspar David Friedrich had chosen as motifs and captures them photographically. He recomposes the works from hundreds of recordings and lets us experience their fascination anew in a contemporary form.

“The time levels merged in this way make it clear once again: Art always has only one present. It's where the thinking about them takes place." Michael Freitag

Hiroyuki Masuyama was born in 1968 in Tsukuba / Japan. He graduated from the University of the Arts in Tokyo, studied at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf and at the Art Academy for Media, museums, art halls and galleries in Europe and Japan arranged solo exhibitions for the versatile painter, draftsman, sculptor and photographer. His works can be found in many renowned collections.

All the artists in the gallery wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas and all the best for the coming year 2023!
Yours Jörk Rothamel
