Viel Vor
Moritz Götze
MORITZ GÖTZE
LOTS PLAN
May 24 to September 20, 2025
We cordially invite you and your friends to the opening with the artist on Saturday, May 24 at 8 p.m.!
Moritz Götze's warm and alert works endow their viewers with a unique aura. Götze paints, enamels, mosaics, prints in many techniques, and creates sculptures and installations. His works adorn public and private spaces all over the world. The enamels in Bernburg's St. Aegidien Castle Church are considered the most significant German sacred space design of the 21st century.
Götze has appeared in hundreds of solo and group exhibitions worldwide, in both renowned and eccentric venues. His oeuvre is one of the most extensive of our time. Beyond his art, he is active as a publisher, historian, designer, and curator.
The new works by the great Halle artist are self-reflexive. The artist depicts himself as a hiker viewed from behind (analogous to Georg Friedrich Kersting's depiction of Caspar David Friedrich on his hike in the Giant Mountains). He takes stock and underscores his roots in European art history. At the same time, he sets a course for the future: "Viel vor."
