Mythos
Moritz Götze
We cordially invite you and your friends to the opening with the artist on Friday, November 21st at 6:30 p.m.!
Moritz Götze is one of the most important Pop Art artists of our time. His warm and alert works endow their viewers with a unique aura. Götze paints, enamels, mosaics, prints in many techniques, and creates sculptures and installations. His works adorn public and private spaces all over the world. The enamels in Bernburg's St. Aegidien Castle Church are considered the most significant German sacred space design of the 21st century. Beyond his art, he works as a publisher, historian, designer, and curator.
A major new body of work is currently being initiated. "At my age," says Moritz Götze (*1964), "it's time to engage with myths." Myth (ancient Greek: narrative) links human existence with the world of gods, spirits, and supernatural forces. The artist combines retrospection with prophecy, erecting beacons on the shores of the present to guide the course toward the future.
