Moritz Götze is awarded the prize of the Hallescher Kunstverein
12. November 2024

The exhibition shows a lesser-known area of Moritz Götze's work: graphic portfolios, illustrations and books. In this specific area of work, Götze proves himself to be a master storyteller with an independent visual language. This includes graphic portfolios from the 1980s and 1990s such as "James Bond 007" (1989), "The Prince's Abduction" (1992) and "Tristan and Isolde" (1993/94) as well as artist books such as "Gulliver" (1996) and illustrations such as for Manfred Krug's 1999 volume of poetry ("66 poems - what's the point"). Cover designs for magazines and records will also be presented.Jens-Fietje Dwars on the award winner: "This is Moritz Götze's art of uniting opposites: past and present, closeness and distance, sensuality and abstraction, dream and reality, art and life - and all of this in the medium of painting that is both modern and timeless. It has wit, freshness and a rare esprit in the German art world." (2024)
