Following “Hinterland” and “Unter Wasser,” “ the release of “Am Weg” coincides with Paris Photo this year. This book concludes Hans-Christian Schink's great Mecklenburg trilogy. The three books draw a slowly narrowing circle around the artist's home. “Hinterland” shows landscapes of the wider Berlin area (Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern), “Unter Wasser” shows images of ponds, lakes, and dead ice holes of Mecklenburg-Vorpomern, and “Am Weg/Along the Path” is now a complex Gesamtkunstwerk that uses black-and-white and color photographs, drawings, and lists to attempt the seemingly hopeless project of making a complete inventory of a path only 3 km long from the house of the artist to a nearby lake.
A literary text by author Uwe Kolbe, who associatively walks a concrete as well as fictional path, adds a completely independent level to the publication.
