"A suction always arises from the fact that a word, a sentence, an illustration points beyond itself. This is what narrators want for their texts and painters for their pictures. Ellen Akimoto has mastered this art of generating tension so confidently that with her motifs (and knows how to play with the viewer.
In this way, the central perspective and the classic focus disappear, several pictures slide into one another on one and the same surface, the painter pushes them under the viewer with precise artifacts before he really understands it.
Akimoto's work is like a director who creates a flow of images with camera work and cuts. She tells without ever revealing the whole story. "
