Zwei verschiedene Perspektiven auf das Motiv der Landschaft eröffnen Wieland Payer und Doris Ziegler und treten in der Ausstellung in einen spannungsvollen Dialog. Der in Dresden lebende Wieland Payer schafft visionäre Landschaften als Gegenentwürfe zu urbanen Räumen, deren Vielfältigkeit die Leipziger Malerin Doris Ziegler vor Augen führt.

Wieland Payer, Blue Fall, 2020, Pastell, 190 x 300 cm
Wieland Payer beweist zeichnerische Virtuosität und ein besonderes Gespür für faszinierende Themen. Seine Landschaften und Stilleben sind weitgehend menschenfrei und überzogen von rätselhaften Erscheinungen. Entstammen sie Fiktionen, Beschreibungen humboldtscher Entdecker oder schlicht künstlerischer Phantasie? Payer verwebt Gegenständliches, Abstraktes und Metaphysik zu etwas Neuem. Seine Idealbilder fungieren als Visionen einer anderen Welt. Seine Objekte vermitteln den Eindruck, diese Welt sei bereits präsent.

Mit dem phantastischen Charakter der Werke korrespondiert ihr ungewohnter Auftritt: Wieland Payer arbeitet mit Pastellmalerei und präsentiert diese Technik in neuem Glanz. Das gelingt ihm durch ihre ungewöhnliche Anwendung aufs Großformat, ihre brillante Beherrschung und behutsame Weiterentwicklung.

Wieland Payer (*1981 in Erfurt) lebt und arbeitet in Dresden. Er studierte an der Kunsthochschule Burg Giebichenstein Halle (Diplom, 2009), der Accademia di Belle Arti Rom (Erasmusstipendium) und am Royal College of Art in London (Stipendium der Studienstiftung und des DAAD, Master, 2011). Arbeiten des jungen Künstlers befinden sich in renommierten öffentlichen Sammlungen.

Hans-Christian Schink im Museum für zeitgenössische Kunst in Odessa
In Kooperation mit dem Museum für zeitgenössische Kunst in Odessa starten wir eine virtuelle Ausstellung mit Werken von Hans-Christian Schink. Mitarbeiter des Museums montierten Abbildungen von Werken des Künstlers in virtuelle und reale Räume. Entscheiden Sie sich für den Erwerb eines der Werke, geht die Hälfte des Kaufpreises (abzüglich deutscher Steuern und der Herstellungskosten der großformatigen Fotografien) an das Museum.
Hans-Christian Schink (*1961 in Deutschland) fotografiert „besondere Landschaften, im Schnittpunkt menschlicher Bestrebungen und ihrer natürlichen Voraussetzungen. Es ist dieses menschliche Interesse, welches ‚Landschaft’ erst konstituiert, indem es sie als Gestalt aus dem umgebenden Land heraushebt, gleichsam figürlich vom Grund abgrenzt.“ schreibt Kai Uwe Schierz.
„Kann man weniger aussprechen und doch zugleich alles sagen?“ fragt Mark Siemons in der FAZ, während Boris Hohmeyer für „Art“ über eine Arbeit Schinks urteilt, sie sei „so streng und schön wie von Barnett Newman gemalt“.
